On Delay Timer / Off Delay Timer

Normally, ON Delay Timer and OFF Delay Timer used to control the control circuit for a certain time. So the timer we can delay the circuit operation. Three types of timers are mostly common used in electric circuits. One an on-demand timer, the second one a relay timer and the third one is a star delta timer. All electrical timers functionally identical but delayed operations will be diverse. Learn more about this type of timer and the main difference between on delay and off-delay timers.

ON Delay Timer

On delay timer is the most commonly used timer in electric power control circuits and systems. The word itself may be known that to you, that on delay means delayed switching ON the relay cotact. This means that the timer does not change the close contact until the preset time is reached. See the picture that, the input supply is given to the timer coil, but no output in NO contact until the preset time. The timer replaces the contact once the preset time is reached. This types of timer called a ON delayed timer (ON Delay Timer).

Off Delay Timer

In a word, "off-delay" means delayed switch off contact. This means that even if you cut the input power to the timer, the timer still makes contact with the current close circuit.

Just to say, we take an example. Now consider that you have a delayed timer and have set a delay operation of 15 seconds in the time dial. Now you give the input voltage to the timer coil, then the timer immediately chooses the voltage and change the contact NC to open position. Which means that change the Normal Close contact to Open state.

If you do not have a contact instrument, the contact will be NC until the timer receives the power supply. Now switch the power to the timer. Here, you can see that the magic is that the timer will not reset the contact, as long as what you set in the time dial, in our case 15 seconds. They have capacitors to keep in contact even if the timer loses power.

Look at the picture, the input signal is switched off  but the contact is closed. Such timers are called delayed timers. Such delay delays are used in motor cooling systems, cooling systems are usually designed with cooling motors and they run with the main motor, to cool the motor after the main motor has stopped, Cooling motors will be made to run for a few times with the help of which they preset delay time.

Cyclic Timer

In a word, "Cyclic" means delayed relay switch off  and on contact. It is using for dual pump operation timely on and off continuously.

On Delay-Off Delay Timer usages

Some time delay timers are used in auto transformers starter circuits like a Star-delta control, forward and revers control etc.

The ON delay and OFF delay timers uses various control panels, like as AMF panel, ATS panel, star-delta starter controls and capacitive load starter etc.
